Comb-through gels with a flexible hold film — engineered so the hold survives the day without flaking when the film breaks.
Gel lives or dies on two things: does the hold last past lunch, and does it flake when the film breaks. Both come down to the polymer system and how it is plasticised, not to how much polymer is in the bottle.

The gelling polymer sets the hold; the plasticiser decides whether that hold snaps or flexes. Rigid films give strong initial hold and flake on re-styling — flexible films hold less hard but survive the day.
Comb-through applicators put the product directly at the roots, which changes how much is dosed per use. The formula has to be tuned to that dosing, not to a scoop-from-jar assumption.
Tested by re-combing a dried film and inspecting for visible residue. This is the failure mode consumers notice first and complain about most.

Frequently asked questions
Why does hair gel flake, and how do you prevent it?
Flaking comes from a rigid polymer film snapping when the hair is re-combed. A flexible film holds slightly less hard but survives the day — the balance between the gelling polymer and the plasticiser decides which behaviour you get.
Can you make an alcohol-free gel?
Yes, though alcohol-free systems need a different preservative and solubiliser approach, and dry-down is slower. It is a formulation change, not a substitution.
Do you supply the comb applicator bottle?
Yes. Comb-applicator bottles are sourced and filled in-house, so the gel viscosity is validated against the applicator rather than chosen in isolation.
Which markets need humidity resistance?
Tropical and high-humidity markets are the usual case. Humidity resistance is tested at sample stage rather than claimed from the formula alone.
